Ensaïmada: sweet or salty

Continue informing you about the cuisine of the Balearic Islands. Yesterday I talked about the delicious cheese Mahón and today it is the turn to the jewel of pastry insular the Ensaïmada.

The development of this culinary icon is completely handmade and can take up to 24 hours after the process begins. Ensaimada ingredients are: flour power, water, sugar, eggs, sourdough, yeast and lard (the Arabic "Saim" hence the name). Once the mixture and so entwined with that feature, according to the direction of clockwise, left to ferment in bins for the yeast to swell the crowd.

Most common types of buns:

* Ensaimada Lisa (unfilled)
* Angel hair Ensaimada
* Ensaimada cream
* Ensaimada cream
* Ensaimada crème brûlée
* Ensaimada envelope
* Chocolate Ensaimada

Start by listing locations of the bakeries in Mallorca belonging to the Consejo Regulador IGP (Protected Geographical Indication). This Council is in charge of controlling the quality of the buns produced by firms in its registry. Among them we highlight two:

* FORN PONT DES
Founded in 1964
Neighborhood of the Vileta Way No 21
07011 Palma
Tel 971792479

* Forno and PASTISSERIA MARROIG (CA'N Panxeta)
Family business since 1852
C / Vicari Pastor, 3
07100 Sóller
Tel 971631973

We recommend you order your buns to bring the pastry nearest to your accommodation. Most bakeries have so many orders that if there is to request you will be disappointed. Another option is to buy at the airport, but we'll inform you that prices are considerably higher. If you're traveling by plane should know that, for some time, forcing airlines to check the buns.

Besides being able to buy buns at the bakery, which also sell insurance in the Christmas markets of Mallorca earlier this month adorn the streets of many towns shutters.

If you think you are a tower of buns bring back home, choose the rental car with the boot that suits you. In Eurorent, we have a wide range of rental cars in Mallorca.

Route Calculator

When you travel do not know well the roads in Baleares, so before we get going with your car hire, we have for you a comparison of the route calculation you can find online.

Are computer programs that give you a route between a source and one destination, with details of the names of roads and exits to take in each section of the same:

* http://maps.google.es

Advantages: easy and if you're wrong direction, corrects you (the famous "maybe he meant" from Google).
Disadvantages: only the shortest path does not have many options.

* http://www.viamichelin.es

Advantages: you can choose different types of route (recommended, faster, shorter, with a view and economic).
Disadvantages: the map is more complex and contains too many ads.

* http://guia.repsol.com

Advantages: good road map and a very clear map.
Disadvantages: you have to write more information about the source and destination address, street, province, etc.. (something not always know).

* http://buenviajecepsa.com

Advantages: 3D map or aerial view, is more complicated signs and gives you the option to maximize the map.
Disadvantages: the options bar is probably very complex and sometimes left hanging.

We hope you have been helpful and remember that if you have not yet made a booking your rental car, you can do so via our website: Car Rental Eurorent
