Ensaïmada: sweet or salty

Continue informing you about the cuisine of the Balearic Islands. Yesterday I talked about the delicious cheese Mahón and today it is the turn to the jewel of pastry insular the Ensaïmada.

The development of this culinary icon is completely handmade and can take up to 24 hours after the process begins. Ensaimada ingredients are: flour power, water, sugar, eggs, sourdough, yeast and lard (the Arabic "Saim" hence the name). We recommend you order your buns to bring the pastry nearest to your accommodation. Most bakeries have so many orders that if there is to request you will be disappointed.
